Caranzalem is the result of working through experimentation by two young ladies who were born and grew in the same city in the north of Spain (Zaragoza) and study in the South (Seville). However, the destiny decides that their ways won't cross until the summer in 2013 in India, where, oddly, they get to know eachother and get the chance to play together for the first time.
As they came back to Spain their friendship keept growing that makes them keep travelling around the world, this time through music.
As Pilar and Elena say: "living in a concret part of the world doesn't stop us going back to India through it sounds, travel to the colonnial time to South America or dance in our minds the East-European melodies. We play instruments that tradition has anchored to styles that are related to concret time and places, very determined and close. We have decided to brake on that, keep travelling through music and our instruments, decontext them, aswel as ourselves."
Caranzalem is being very well received from the audience and the specialized mediates. It has been selected to praticipate in prestigious programs such as MusaE, Music in statal Museums around Spain, program from the Education, Culture and Sport Spanish Minister. Also has participated in Caixaforum Microconcerts Program, Noches en los jardines del Real Alcázar in Sevilla, or the Noches de verano de la Fundación CAI-ASC.
In 2018 Caranzalem launched it's first album "Caja de música", financed by 100 patrons who took part in a crowdfounding campaign, which was also a winner of an accesit price convened by the Instituto Aragonés de la Juventud.
Muere lentamente quien no viaja,
quien no lee,
quien no escucha música,
quien no halla encanto en si mismo.
